KEY STAGES

STAGE 1

SKILLS CLINICS

Skills clinics are composed of an open clinic and coaches clinics led by 50 accredited Jr. NBA coaches in schools and communities that will focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball and core values of the game.

STAGE 2

REGIONAL TRAINING CAMPS

  • Lucena (March 9-10) – Enverga University
  • Baguio (March 23-24) – Benguet State University
  • Dumaguete (March 30-31) – St. Louis School of Don Bosco
  • Butuan (April 13-14) – Father Saturnino Urios University
  • Metro Manila (April 27-28) – Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati

Players born from Sept. 1, 2004 to Aug. 31, 2006 are eligible to qualify for Day 2 of the Regional Selection Camp and further stages of the program.

Day 1
Each athlete is tested and scored on 5 Jr. NBA Skill Stations - Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, Footwork & Layups
Top 40 boys & 40 girls advance to Day 2

Day 2
Top 80 take part in morning basketball clinic and afternoon 5-on-5 games
After staging all Regional Selection Camps, Jr. NBA coaches deliberate and select 40 boys and 40 girls to advance to National Training Camp

STAGE 3

NATIONAL TRAINING CAMP

Top 80 athletes take part in 3-day camp, featuring instruction from an NBA and WNBA player or legend

As many as 5 boys and 5 girls will be named Jr. NBA All-Stars and participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Qualifiers

Jr. NBA Coach of the Year program to provide training for 14 Jr. NBA coaches during the National Training Camp, culminating with the male and female Jr. NBA Coach of the Year attending the Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Qualifiers

STAGE 4

JR. NBA GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP ASIA QUALIFIERS

The Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Qualifiers will be a week-long event in June that will feature top youth players from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The top performing 10 boys and 10 girls will represent Asia Pacific team, led by a male and female Jr. NBA coach, in the Jr. NBA Global Championship.

STAGE 5

JR. NBA GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Asia Pacific team will travel to the second Jr. NBA Global Championship on Aug. 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla.
