The Jr. NBA is the official youth basketball participation program of the NBA. The Jr. NBA is a free, membership-based program. The membership is to help encourage and support youth basketball participation at the grassroots level and improve the overall youth basketball experience for all participants. The Jr. NBA aims to develop a lifelong passion for the game of basketball in boys and girls ages 5-14 by teaching them the fundamentals of the sport while instilling core values including teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.
Membership in the Jr. NBA lasts one year. All individuals in good standing will be invited to renew their membership each year.

No. The Open Clinics are designed to teach basketball fundamentals to any participant as the coaches can tweak the difficulty of any of the drills based on a participant’s current skill level. Participants of the Regional Training Programme will go through a set of different Jr. NBA Skills and Drills that measure different basketball fundamentals such as shooting, footwork, passing, layups, and ball handling. This is a good way for the participants to benchmark their current skill level and find out areas where they can improve their basketball skills.

No. All equipment used in the basketball clinic will be provided by Jr. NBA.

Jr. NBA uniforms are not available for sale. In select countries, limited number of uniforms are given out free of charge to participants of the program. Please come prepared in proper basketball clinic attire or at the minimum: comfy shirt, athletic shorts, socks and rubber shoes. Girls wearing jersey tops should also wear inner shirts during the activities.

Food and water will NOT be provided to the participants. Please make sure to eat a healthy meal prior to coming and be prepared with your own snacks and water during the Jr. NBA clinics.

Fill in all the required information, check the “I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy” checkbox and click Submit. The system will then send you an email with the completed registration form and waiver. 4. Have one of your parents or guardians sign the waiver form. 5. Head to your selection clinic location and bring your completed registration form and signed waiver.

This is the only way participants can register in the program.

The National Training Camp is open only to top athletes selected from the Regional Training Programme. Likewise, participation in the experience trip is exclusive to Jr. NBA All-Stars named during the National Training Camp.

Everyone that has a desire to improve their Basketball Coaching Skills is welcome to participate in the Coaches Clinics or Workshops. You can be a student who is aspiring to be a Basketball Coach one day or a professional in a different field who is coaching a kid’s basketball team as a hobby, as long as you have the desire to learn about coaching techniques and different basketball drills you are welcome to join us.

The skills and activities being taught in the Open Clinics are geared towards boys and girls from 5 to 14 years old. If you want to participate but are outside of this age range, you are more than welcome to join us but please be aware that the drills, pacing and teaching style for the skills being taught were not created for participants of your age in mind and may not be the most efficient way for you to learn fundamental basketball skills.

Participants between the ages of 5 – 14 years old are able to join the 6-week Regional Training Programme. Note that only participants born within the years 2003 to 2007 are eligible to advance to NTC and the succeeding legs of the program. If you were not born within 2003-2007, you may still participate, learn and improve your current fundamental skill level by going through the 6-week programme.

Participants for the National Training Camp will be selected by the Jr. NBA Coaches from the Regional Training Programme. In order to complete eligibility, these selected participants should submit a parental consent and release form signed by their parents (and any other documents required by NBA) and a medical certificate specifically stating that they are fit to participate in the National Training Camp. The Jr. NBA All-Stars who will attend the NBA Experience Trip will be selected during the National Training Camp. Selected Jr. NBA All-Stars should submit a parental consent and release form (and any other documents required by NBA) prior to departing for the NBA Experience Trip.

To maintain consistency across all Jr. NBA programs in South East Asia, we look at the year of birth as the cut-off for the program. To be eligible to advance to the National Training Camp (in the year of 2017), you must be born within the years 2003 to 2007.

Yes. A First Aid station will be set up at the event to provide participants with basic medical assistance throughout the entire duration of the event.
Yes. Our partners have interactive booths that are open to the public, where you may get product samples as well as win prizes. We also have fun on-court games schedules during the program where participants can join to win premium items.

Participants during the open clinics will go through a fun group warm-up drill that is designed to challenge their listening skills and reaction time. They will then be divided into skills stations where coaches will teach them fundamental basketball skills such as shooting, layups, passing, agility/footwork, and ball handling.

The Regional Training Program is a 6-week long programme. There are a total of 4 beginner and 4 advance level groups. Each group will take part in 6 sessions over a course of 6 weeks. Participants will be taught basketball fundamentals and skills via fun and engaging drills. Coaches will assess the progress and skill development of the participants weekly.

Qualified athletes who are invited to the National Training Camp will go through intensive 3-day basketball training camp that will be run by our Jr. NBA Head Coaches as well as a visiting NBA Talent. At the end of the camp, Jr. NBA Coaches will select Jr. NBA All-Stars who will represent their country in the NBA Experience Trip.
The NBA Experience Trip is an all-expense paid inter-cultural experience trip where Jr. NBA All-Stars from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are brought together for a three-day camp. The Jr. NBA All-Stars from South East Asia will undergo basketball training, play exhibition games, visit famous landmarks in their host city as well as watch a live NBA Pre-season game.
